A spoon full of sugar...

Let’s play catch-up shall we?!

My ‘spanic ass has been sickly so that explains why I have been missing in action. I hate being sick! It even caused me to miss a few days of work – that I am not complaining about! Any day I get to sleep in is a good one… especially on a work day! =) Anyhoo, a couple of weeks ago I developed a cough – which sucks… really, really, really sucks! It could have been worse, but my trip to SF for Folsom was right around the corner. Damn it! Being sick never stopped me from doing anything in the past so why should it make a difference now?! =)

A few weekends ago I attended some very fun events…

Friday night, I headed up to the NuArt with Timofy. We caught the midnight screening of “Clue” with Sins O’ The Flesh performing along with the movie. It was surprisingly better than I had imagined. I nodded off a couple of times, but was awaken both times by the vulgar comments being shouted from the audience – loved it. “I… am… your signing telegram” *bang!*

Saturday continued the Midnight Movie experience as Woodsy and I trailed up to La Jolla to see “Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory” at the Landmark. I luckily avoided getting hit by any of the gigantic Wonka bars they were throwing out into the audience! It was so cool to see the original up on the big screen since I just saw the Tim Burton redux within the past few months. I could not believe how much build up there was before you even got into the factory! The Veruca in the original is way more evil and bratty than the one in the update. I also like Ms. Salt being called a bad egg versus a bad nut – although the squirrels were much cooler than the geese. “Violet, your turning Violet, Violet!”

The weekend came to a close Sunday evening when I caught the Back 2 Cool concert at SDSU’s Open Air Theatre. I got there late due to the fact that I was stuffing damn good Salmon in my mouth – thanks Woods! Finch had just finished their set when we were frisked at the gates by security. I was a bit confused, was I attending a Fidy Cent concert?! Anyhow, I stopped at the concession stand to purchase a sodie and a thick hot dog – yum, and yes it was mighty thick. *drool*

Oh yeah, the concert… The Bravery came on stage for a solid set which included the front man acting like a jack ass. He was really trying hard to “shock” the audience by jumping around on stage like a cryin', hollerin' bratty child found in any aisle of any Wal-Mart. He tried to “shock” us even more by spitting all over the place between lyrics. The topper had to be when he spit in the air only to catch it back in his mouth. Now for that moment I thought I was at BlowBuddies – think about it, crack out queen spitting and catching it in his mouth – sounds like a busy night with some studs at my favorite Sex Club in SF! ;-) Regardless, The Bravery’s performance was definitely more entertaining than their “supposed” clones The Killers – who have no stage presence btw!

Next up was Bloc Party who came all the way from the UK. The front man had a blue hanky in his back pocket! That Cop Sucker! =) I really enjoyed Bloc Party. Their drummer was one of the best I have seen live – truly dazzling. Highly recommended.

At that point, I needed some nachos.

Then I had to use the little boy’s room… and the bathroom smelled of pot.

Interpol took the stage soon after and they were considered the “main course”. I saw Interpol months ago at SOMA (ack!). Their stage show wasn’t much different than the one at SOMA. The lighting was still awesome. The boys put on a good show, altho nothing spectacular. CarlosD did his usual “Cool Goth” routine and chained smoke the entire time. My only request was for them to play “Slow Hands” – and they did. =)

The weekend was pretty damn eventful as you can see… and I was in “deep thought” the majority of the time. I guess I was trying to figure some shit out, but of course, I am still dealing with “that shit” in my head. =/
